"This is our second Graco Snugride and it has proven to be a great car seat. After some research, we decided on the Snugride because of it's high safety rating and cost. I have read concerns about the base becoming unlatched during crashes, thus I wouldn't invest in separate bases. The good thing about this car seat is that it can be installed safely in the car without the base. It also works well with car seat covers and the lambskin pouch inserts for cold days. "
